News broke late in the day that the first Yorkshire, Brown Shrike had turned up at Old Fall hedge on Flamborough Head. After much deliberation and dicsussion I worked out I could head over at first light and be back at work for 9:30, which was entirely acceptable. What if the bird didn’t show? What if it turned up again later? I wouldn’t have another chance to twtich this cracking shrike. Luckily it turned up just as I pulled in to the car park at about 7:15AM sat in the same bush as the commoner red backed shrike. The crowds were delighted.
